This week I am reminded of the adage that I have repeated over and over. A Japanese friend related it to me while working in his country. Old Japanese saying, “In Japan we fix problem, not blame”. Well, in typical American fashion the blame game is hot and heavy. Of course with the US Presidential election cycle heating up, every woe of the world is President George W. Bush’s fault.
The Democrat presidential primary candidate Senator John Kerry attacks the President, he agrees with what we are doing in Afghanistan and Iraq and also approved the resolution to back the use of force. But, he says GW is using the Presidency for on the job training, who hasn’t, as dumb as they say he is, he at least learns from his mistakes.
I am refreshed by the fact that if the administration implements a strategy and if it does not succeed they change course and correct it.
Plans and strategies devised in the conference room rarely survive the first day on the battlefield.
Blame is the game. Why? Because the accusers wish for you to be so busy attacking the blamed that you never notice that they have nothing better. If the nay sayers really are so much better, bring it on! Show me the plan. Tell me what you would do. Don’t tell me what they didn’t do and how you are so much better. Tell me, what should be done, how, why, how much will it cost? No! They just want power.
Don’t fall into the trap. Think! Demand substance!
